Grenaline brass vine pomegranate chandelier lit, twenty textured glass pomegranates cascading from a leaf canopy

Brass vine pomegranate chandelier

GRENALINE

Twenty glass pomegranates, ripening on a golden vine

Twisting brass vines wind down from a leaf-shaped canopy, sprouting curled brass leaves and twenty hand-blown, textured glass pomegranates, each with a small crown-like tip. Lit, the dimpled glass scatters a warm glow and casts a soft pattern of light across the ceiling.

Fruit that seems to ripen as it falls

The vine starts at the leaf canopy and loops down in loose S-curves, dropping pomegranates in mixed sizes all the way to the bottom. The larger globes cluster near the top; smaller ones trail off along the stems, so the light thins out gently as it descends.

The fruit

Twenty glass pomegranates

Each globe is hand-blown in clear glass with a dimpled, hammered texture, then finished with a small glass crown at the tip, just like a real pomegranate.

  • Dimpled glass scatters the light into soft sparkles
  • Mixed sizes give the cascade a natural, picked-from-the-tree look
  • A brass cap tops each globe and hides the G4 socket

The vine

Twisting brass branches

Brass vines wind down in loose S-curves, splitting into smaller stems that hold each pomegranate. Curled brass leaves sprout along the way.

  • Leaves and stems in a warm gold finish

The leaf

A brass leaf on the ceiling

Instead of a plain round plate, the canopy is a veined brass leaf. The vine grows straight out of it, so the whole fixture looks like it is sprouting from the ceiling.

  • Mounts directly to the ceiling; no chain
  • Textured veins catch the light from the globes
  • Hardwired to a ceiling junction box

Light & bulb

A glow that spills onto the ceiling

The dimpled glass breaks each small bulb into dozens of points of light, and the globes near the top cast a soft, dappled pattern across the ceiling. The photo shows the glow we recommend: 3000K warm white.

Mounted directly to the ceiling, Grenaline always hangs 51.2 in down. Over a walkway, that needs a ceiling of about 11.5 ft or higher to keep 7 ft of clearance.

Best under ceilings of about 10 ft and up.
Are bulbs included? What bulb should I buy?

Bulbs are not included. Grenaline takes 20 G4 bulbs at 120V, the standard US household voltage; 12V G4 bulbs will not work. We recommend 120V G4 LED bulbs in 3000K warm white. The final light color depends on the bulbs you choose.

How high a ceiling do I need?

Grenaline mounts directly to the ceiling and hangs 51.2 in (130 cm). Over a dining table, a ceiling of about 10 ft works well. Over a walkway, you need about 11.5 ft or more to keep 7 ft of clearance underneath.

Can the height be adjusted?

No. There is no chain or rod to adjust; the leaf canopy mounts directly to the ceiling and the fixture is a fixed 51.2 in (130 cm) tall. Check your ceiling height before ordering.

Is the glass hand-blown?

Yes. Each of the 20 pomegranates is hand-blown clear glass with a dimpled texture and a small glass crown at the tip. Because they are made by hand, size and texture vary slightly from piece to piece.

Where does it look best?

Its long, slim shape, 19.7 in (50 cm) across, suits stairwells, tall foyers, dining rooms with high ceilings and tall window walls. It is not suited to standard 8 to 9 ft ceilings.

How is it installed and cleaned?

Grenaline is hardwired to a ceiling junction box under the brass leaf canopy. We recommend a licensed electrician. To clean, switch it off, let it cool and wipe the glass and brass with a soft, dry cloth.

Four hands-on stages

From a bar of raw brass to the frame of your lamp, each stage is done by a person at a machine or a bench.

A brass rod being turned on a metal lathe with curls of brass swarf
A craftsman cutting brass sheet into shapes at the bench
A metalworker welding a brass lamp frame at the bench

Brass

Mostly copper, strengthened with zinc. That simple mix gives brass its warm golden color, its weight and its strength, and it is the metal we build our lamp bodies from.

Look closer at the metal

Brass rewards a close look. Tap a point to see what solid metal does that coated metal cannot.

You feel it the moment you lift it

Brass is one of the densest metals used in lighting. That weight is why a brass lamp hangs steady and feels solid in your hands.

Both can look golden on day one. Drag to see what sits under the surface.

Scratch solid brass and you find more brass. Scratch plating and grey metal shows.

No rust underneath

Brass does not rust. Plated iron rusts once the coating wears thin.

Detail that stays sharp

Machined brass keeps crisp lines; cast alloys tend to look soft.
