The Verel Stepped Glass Drum Chandelier sets twenty-seven clear glass panels into two stepped rings on a gold-finished iron frame, the lower ring set in slightly from the upper one. Each panel is held at its top edge by a gold bracket and left open at the bottom, so light exits downward through the glass and out sideways through the gaps between panels at the same time.

Most fixtures this wide are also deep, and depth is what makes a chandelier unusable in an ordinary room. This one is barely ten inches tall across a thirty-one inch span, so it reads as a broad ring rather than a mass coming down at you. Every panel is open at its lower edge, which means light leaves downward through the glass and sideways through the gaps at the same time — the table below is lit, and so is the ceiling around it.

Each panel hangs from one edge

A gold bracket grips the top of every panel and nothing holds the bottom, so the glass hangs free with an open gap beneath it. That gap is the whole design: light leaves downward through the panel and sideways under it at the same moment, instead of being trapped inside a closed drum.

Two rings, one set in from the other

The lower ring sits slightly inside the upper one rather than flush beneath it. From below that step reads as depth, and from the side it breaks the silhouette into two lines — which is what stops a fixture this wide from looking like a single flat disc on the ceiling.

No two panels catch the same

The glass carries a clouded, marbled pattern that shifts from panel to panel, so the twenty-seven pieces never light evenly. Some go bright, some stay soft, and the ring changes as you move around it rather than presenting one flat face.

With the source behind it, the marbling in each panel stops being pattern and starts being depth — the glass goes amber where it is thin and stays soft where it is dense. Light leaves downward onto the table and sideways through the gaps between panels, so the ceiling around the fixture lifts instead of going dark above it.

Unlit

The clouding turns to texture.

Switched off it reads as a piece of glasswork rather than a dormant light. Daylight catches the panels from outside instead of from within, the marbling shows as pale grey against the gold frame, and the two stepped rings hold their shape. It still earns its place in a room used mostly in the daytime.

Most fixtures are only worth looking at once they are on. This one works either way.

Same width, half the drop — and that is the whole argument

Both drawn to the same scale under an 8 ft ceiling, over a table of the same height. Chain length is adjustable on site in either case — what cannot be adjusted is the depth of the body itself.

✦ Keeping It Clear

Care

Twenty-seven panels, and a twenty-minute job twice a year

Glass this open collects dust faster than a closed shade does, and dust on glass shows the moment the light is switched on. The good news is that nothing here needs taking apart — every panel is reachable from a step ladder, and the frame is finished metal rather than plated trim that lifts under a cloth.

Switch it off and let it cool

Isolate the circuit at the wall switch and give the bulbs fifteen minutes before you start. Warm glass and a damp cloth are a bad combination, and working on a live fixture with wet hands is worse.

Dust dry before anything wet

A dry microfibre cloth or a soft duster over every panel first, working around the ring rather than up and down. This lifts the loose layer so the damp pass that follows doesn't turn it into streaks. Support each panel from behind with your other hand — the glass hangs from its top bracket and will swing if you push it.

Damp cloth, not spray

Dampen the cloth with warm water and wring it out properly, then wipe each panel face and follow immediately with a dry cloth. Never spray anything at the fixture: liquid runs down the glass into the brackets and the sockets, which is where the real damage happens. Wipe the gold frame the same way and dry it straight after.

Twice a year is enough

In an ordinary dining room, twice a year keeps it looking new. Over a kitchen island make it three or four times — cooking film settles on glass and hardens, and it is far easier to wipe off at three months than at twelve.

Shipping Policy

Refund Policy

We want you to feel like every item is the perfect match for your home. If it’s not the right fit, we’ll help you get it sorted and have you on your way.

You can return most items for a refund within 30 days of delivery. Return shipping costs apply, and the item must be in its original condition and packaging to be accepted. Returned product must be in its original package and in new/unused condition to qualify for any refund. If the product has been installed already, it can not be returned. Customized items are not eligible for return as well.

If you wish to request a return or exchange, please contact us at support@samulighting.com to obtain an RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) number before sending your package. Items sent back without prior authorization will not be accepted or processed.

Once your return request is approved, we will provide your RMA number along with the correct return shipping address and detailed packaging instructions on how and where to send your item.

To return a purchase, please follow the directions below.

Within 30 days after you receive the goods, if there is any manufacturer defect in the goods, please contact us immediately and take photos and videos for us to check. After verification, you may return full refund of any lighting equipment or related products, including the return freight you paid (the expedited freight will not be returned).

NOTE: If there is any manufacturer defect or shipping damage, please contact us within 48 hours and take photos and videos to show us the defect for us to verify.

If there is no manufacturer defect and you want to return the item for other reasons, you can still return it. However, since there is no manufacturer defect, you are responsible for the return shipping cost and must ensure that the product is sealed in the original packaging and in resalable condition. Once we receive the product and confirm that it is in resalable condition, we will issue the refund(the expedited freight will not be returned).

NOTE: If the return is not due to a manufacturer defect, customers are responsible for the return shipping cost.

Special order products or items that have been customized, converted or installed are not returnable.

If returned products arrived damaged or used we will not be able to provide a refund. For this reason, we strongly advise you to use an insured, traceable shipping method to return items.
Please note that if the returned products are not packed in the original packaging, or the installed products have broken wires and loose crystals, we will charge you a replenishment fee.

Return Steps

Please follow the steps below to return any part of your order in accordance with our return policy.

1. Process Your Return

Before returning your package, please reply to your order confirmation email and specify which items you would like to return. Be sure to include the reason for the return and let us know whether you prefer a refund, a store credit, or a replacement item.

2. Packaging

Ensure that all components of all items being returned are thoroughly sealed in their original packaging, including all original packaging material.

3. Shipping

Before shipping, please take pictures of inside and outside of the packages as records to show that products are indeed in its original condition. We strongly suggest to have insurance just in case that package are damaged during the shipping process back to us.
For shipping, feel free to ship the product back to us with your choice of shipping carrier. (You do have to pay for the shipping first. If it is quality related issue, we will refund you the shipping cost once we confirm the issue.)
After ship it, please take a picture of the receipt along with the tracking number and send to us at support@samulighting.com.
Once we receive and inspect the return, we will issue the refund within 10 business days. We will send you an email confirmation as well once the return is completed.

Refunds

For returned items, after we received them, it takes 5 - 10 business days for us to inspect for damage and restock. We will issue the refund accordingly after the inspecting process. If returned products arrived damaged or used we will not be able to provide a refund. Please allow up to 30 days for the credit to be finalized depends on the bank and credit card company that you use.

We must receive returned products before we can issue any refund. If we did not receive the products back for any giving reason, like the customer refuses to send the product back or the customer refuses to accept the package resulting in the shipping agent destroying the package, we will not be able to issue any refund.

Cancellation of Order

Customized items are not eligible for cancellation. For non-customized orders, you can cancel for free within 24 hours after you place the order by replying to your order confirmation email. After that, you can still cancel it as long as the products have not been shipped out. However, a $50 processing fee will be charged. Once the product is shipped out, the order can not be canceled.

Why Handblown, and Not Pressed

Pressed glass is stamped in a mold: uniform, thin, and flat once the light is behind it. Handblown glass carries a slight variation in thickness, and that variation is what gives the glow depth instead of a single even wash.

Color goes into the melt rather than onto the surface, so it runs the full thickness of the wall — it can't chip, fade, or wear off at the rim.

It costs more and takes longer. It also looks like nothing else in the room.
