OrmondFluted Bell Brass Chandelier

The Ormond Fluted Bell Brass Chandelier sets frosted fluted glass bells on curved brass arms around a turned center column, with a matching fluted glass bowl closing the base.

The glass is frosted warm white and pressed with fine vertical ribs, so every shade glows evenly and keeps the bulb out of view from below. One design runs from a six-light for a breakfast nook to a fifteen-light, two-tier version for a double-height foyer.

Glass that glows, not glares

Each bell is frosted warm white and pressed with fine vertical ribs. The frosting softens the bulb into an even glow, and the ribs spread that glow sideways across the whole shade, so no bright spot shows through.

The bells open upward and sit in brass cups, which keeps the bulbs out of sight from the table or the sofa. The same fluting runs around the glass bowl under the center, tying the whole fixture together.

Lights on, lights off

Switched off, the Ormond reads as gold brass and ivory glass, a fixture that still dresses the room in daylight.

Switched on, every fluted bell fills with an even glow and the ribs soften the light, so nothing looks harsh from the table. Shown here with warm white bulbs; the color of the light follows the bulbs you choose.

The brass, up close

One tier or two

The 12- and 15-light versions add a second, smaller ring of bells above the first. The height stays at 49 cm, so a two-tier Ormond adds light without hanging any lower.

Setting the height

The Ormond body is 49 cm / 19.3" tall on every size, and the included 50 cm / 19.7" chain is adjusted on site to set the drop.

  1. Measure the dropMeasure from the ceiling to the table top, or to the floor in an entry.
  2. Leave room above the tableKeep the bottom of the bowl about 30 to 34 in above a dining table.
  3. Keep walkways clearWhere people walk underneath, leave at least 7 ft from the floor.

Carry it to the walls

The Whitlock Fluted Bell Brass Wall Lamp repeats the Ormond's frosted fluted bell on a single brass arm, for the places a chandelier can't reach.

Caring for the Ormond

Brass and frosted glass need very little. A light clean now and then keeps both looking the way they arrived.

Before you clean

Switch off the power and let the bulbs cool.

Glass bells

Dust with a soft dry cloth. For a deeper clean, lift the bells off, wash in lukewarm water with mild soap, and dry fully before refitting.

Brass frame

Wipe with a soft dry cloth. Skip abrasive pads and ammonia or acid cleaners, which can dull the gold finish.

Questions

Short answers to what buyers ask most about the Ormond.

Are bulbs included?

No. The Ormond takes E26/E27 bulbs, and the color temperature comes from the bulbs you choose.

Which size suits my dining table?

Pick a diameter about 12 in narrower than your table. The 6- and 8-light fit most dining tables.

How are the 12- and 15-light different?

They add a second, smaller ring of bells above the first. The body height stays at 49 cm.

Can I change the hanging height?

Yes. The included 50 cm / 19.7" chain is adjusted on site to set the height.

How is it installed?

It is hardwired to a ceiling junction box. We recommend a licensed electrician.

Craftsmanship

Brass keeps a record of everything done to it —
every cut, every pass of the wheel.

Brass That Isn't Just a Colour

Most fixtures sold as brass are iron wearing a brass coat — the colour is sprayed on, and it sits on the surface.

We work brass as metal. It gets cut, formed and joined as itself, and the finish comes from the surface underneath rather than from what's on top of it.

That decision changes everything downstream.

In the Workshop

The Long Way

Nothing here is finished in a single pass.

Each fixture goes through cutting, forming, joining and polishing as four separate stages, with the piece checked between each. Slower than finishing it all at the end, and the reason the surface holds up.
