Whitlock double fluted bell brass wall lamps lit on each side of a gilt mirror above a bathroom vanity
Brass wall lamp with fluted glass

Whitlock Fluted Bell Brass Wall Lamp

The Whitlock Fluted Bell Brass Wall Lamp sets a white fluted glass bell on a curved brass arm, mounted to an oval backplate with a ribbed edge. The glass is frosted white and pressed with fine vertical ribs, so light comes through as a soft, warm glow with the fluting showing faintly on the lit surface.

The arm sweeps out from the plate and turns up to the shade, with a small cast leaf at each bend and a turned brass cup under the glass. Choose a single, or a double that spreads two bells from one central plate for a wider wash of light above a mirror or a bed.

The glass

A bell of frosted, fluted glass

The shade flares from a narrow brass cup to a wide rim, like a tulip opening upward.

  • Frosted whiteThe bulb disappears behind the glass and the whole bell glows evenly.
  • Pressed ribsFine vertical fluting adds texture by day and shows faintly through the glow at night.
  • Open topLight spills up the wall as well as through the glass, for a soft wash around the lamp.
The brass

Five parts in one curve

From the side, the arm carries the bell 31.5 cm / 12.4 in out from the wall, enough to clear a mirror frame or a headboard.

Let the mirror decide

Measure the width of your mirror. That one number tells you whether to hang a double above it or a pair of singles on either side.

At home

Light at eye level

Brass and frosted glass bring a warm, old-house glow to bathrooms, bedrooms, hallways and stairs, softer than a ceiling fixture and closer to where you need it.

Finishes that go with it

Three pairings that work

Warm brass and white glass sit well with most traditional finishes. These are three easy starting points for the room around it.

  • Aged brass
  • Cream paint
  • White marble
  • Linen

Brass and cream

Painted cream cabinetry, a white marble top and a brass faucet keep a bathroom soft and classic.

  • Aged brass
  • Forest green
  • White marble
  • Oak floor

Brass and deep green

A forest green vanity makes the brass read warmer and the frosted glass look brighter.

  • Aged brass
  • Walnut
  • Warm plaster
  • Terracotta

Brass and walnut

A walnut dresser, warm plaster and a terracotta accent give a hallway or bedroom an old-house feel.

Mixing metals? Keep brass as the main finish and use polished nickel or chrome only in small touches, such as a towel ring or cabinet knobs.

Care

Keeping it bright

Power off first
Switch off at the wall and let the bulb and glass cool before you touch them.
The glass
Wipe the bell with a soft cloth lightly dampened with water, then dry it so no spots set on the frosted surface.
The brass
Wipe with a soft, dry cloth. Skip metal polish and sprays, which can dull the finish.
Questions

Good to know

Single or double?

Use a pair of singles to flank a mirror or bed, and one double to center above a mirror, dresser or headboard.

What bulb does it take?

One E26/E27 bulb per bell, not included; the light color depends on the bulb you choose, and a warm white suits the frosted glass.

How high should I mount it?

Beside a mirror or along a hallway, center it 60 to 66 in from the floor.

Can I use it in a bathroom?

Yes, it works above or beside a vanity mirror; keep it away from direct water spray.

Do I need an electrician?

Yes, it is hardwired to a wall junction box, so we recommend a licensed electrician.

A room reads as designed when the pieces share a finish. Start here.

02

Craftsmanship

Brass keeps a record of everything done to it —
every cut, every pass of the wheel.

Brass That Isn't Just a Colour

Most fixtures sold as brass are iron wearing a brass coat — the colour is sprayed on, and it sits on the surface.

We work brass as metal. It gets cut, formed and joined as itself, and the finish comes from the surface underneath rather than from what's on top of it.

That decision changes everything downstream.

In the Workshop

The Long Way

Nothing here is finished in a single pass.

Each fixture goes through cutting, forming, joining and polishing as four separate stages, with the piece checked between each. Slower than finishing it all at the end, and the reason the surface holds up.
