01Pierced brass crown

A band of rosettes and star-cut diamonds rings the top, on a 16 cm / 6.3" canopy.

02Laurel wreaths

Brass laurel wreaths hang on each side of the crown, tied over the crystal like ribbons.

03K-9 crystal strands

Strands of clear K-9 crystal drop from the crown and gather into a basket around four lights.

04Leaf base & finial

Brass leaves fan out beneath the basket and close with a single finial, the view you get from below.

Lit From Within
The crystal does the sparkling. The brass does the framing.

Four lights glow inside the crystal, so the fixture sparkles close to the ceiling without hanging into the room.

The Pellerine
The Name

Worn close, like a short cape.

Picture a dressing room in the morning: closet doors open, the mirror catching the window, and above it all a small crown of crystal throwing light across the ceiling.

pèlerineA short cape that sits close around the shoulders.

Pellerine takes its sound from that word and its idea from the shape: a light that stays near the ceiling, its crystal gathered close under a brass crown instead of hanging down into the room.

It suits the rooms where a full chandelier will not fit, French in spirit: bedrooms, dressing rooms and walk-in closets.

Where It Lives

Rooms with lower ceilings.

Finding your fit

Pellerine suits rooms of about 90 to 160 sq ft. On an 8 ft ceiling, place it over a bed, dressing table or closet island; for hallways and entries people walk through, a ceiling of 9 ft or more keeps headroom comfortable.

Mounting Height

How much room it leaves below.

The canopy sits flat on the ceiling and the light hangs a fixed 42 cm / 16.5". What matters is the space left underneath.

Care

Keeping the crystal clear.

i

Switch off at the wall and let the bulbs cool before you touch the light.

ii

Dust the crystal strands from top to bottom with a soft brush or feather duster.

iii

For a deeper clean, wipe each strand with a lint-free cloth lightly sprayed with glass cleaner. Spray the cloth, never the light.

iv

Wipe the brass crown and wreaths with a soft, dry cloth. Cotton gloves keep fingerprints off the crystal.

Questions

Before it goes up.

What size room is it for?

At 48 cm / 18.9" across, it suits rooms of about 8–15 m² / 90–160 sq ft: bedrooms, dressing rooms, walk-in closets, hallways and entries.

How low does it hang?

42 cm / 16.5" from the ceiling to the bottom of the finial. The height is fixed; the short stem does not adjust.

Will it work with an 8 ft ceiling?

Yes, over a bed, dressing table or closet island, with about 6 ft 7 in left below. For walkways, 9 ft or more is more comfortable.

What bulbs does it take?

Four E12 or E14 candelabra bulbs, not included. A 3000K warm white brings out the crystal best.

Can it go on a sloped ceiling?

No, it is made for flat ceilings only. It is hardwired, and we recommend a licensed electrician for installation.

How do I clean the crystal?

Switch off and let it cool, dust the strands with a soft brush, then wipe with a lint-free cloth lightly sprayed with glass cleaner.

Four hands-on stages

From a bar of raw brass to the frame of your lamp, each stage is done by a person at a machine or a bench.

A brass rod being turned on a metal lathe with curls of brass swarf
A craftsman cutting brass sheet into shapes at the bench
A metalworker welding a brass lamp frame at the bench

Brass

Mostly copper, strengthened with zinc. That simple mix gives brass its warm golden color, its weight and its strength, and it is the metal we build our lamp bodies from.

Brass rewards a close look. Tap a point to see what solid metal does that coated metal cannot.

You feel it the moment you lift it

Brass is one of the densest metals used in lighting. That weight is why a brass lamp hangs steady and feels solid in your hands.

Solid brass vs. brass-colored

Both can look golden on day one. Drag to see what sits under the surface.

Gold all the way through

Scratch solid brass and you find more brass. Scratch plating and grey metal shows.

No rust underneath

Brass does not rust. Plated iron rusts once the coating wears thin.

Detail that stays sharp

Machined brass keeps crisp lines; cast alloys tend to look soft.
