The green glass Saubrenne floor lamp glowing amber from inside, with light spreading across the floor around its base.
Glass Leaf Floor Lamp · Green or Clear

Saubrenne, a column of leaves in glass.

The Saubrenne Glass Leaf Tiered Floor Lamp stacks textured glass leaves in rising tiers around a slim metal column in a nickel finish, each layer curling outward like a plant reaching for light. Bulbs set inside the stack glow through the rippled glass, so the whole lamp shines from base to crown in green or clear.

Size & Footprint

Tall and slim, made for a corner.

The leaves spread about 59 cm / 23.2" at their widest, while the square base and column underneath stay compact.

Seen from above

The tiers turn as they rise, so the leaves fan out on every side.

Beside a sofa

At 140 cm / 55.1" tall, the glowing column rises well above a typical sofa back.

Structure

Built in tiers, lit from within.

Each tier of glass leaves rises from inside the curl of the one below, all held on one slim column, with the bulbs tucked inside the stack.

Base to Crown

Switch it on, every tier lights up.

Saubrenne grows upward the way a plant does, one tier of glass leaves at a time. The light rises with it, from the first tier at the floor to the curled crown at the top.

Bulb not included. A 3000K warm white E26/E27 bulb gives the warmest glow.

Where the light goes

You see the glass glow, not the bulb.

  1. It starts inside the column

The bulbs sit within the stack, screened by the leaves around them.

  2. It passes through rippled glass

The textured surface breaks the light into a soft, uneven shimmer.

  3. It traces every curled rim

The rolled edges of each leaf catch a brighter line of light.

  4. It reaches the floor in rays

Light escaping at the base spreads across the floor around the lamp.

Green or Clear

Two glasses, two moods.

Green glass, olive to gold.

Olive green by day, a deep honey gold once lit. The warmer, richer choice.

The clear glass version standing unlit, its leaves pale with a soft aqua tint at the edges.Clear, by day
The clear glass version switched on, glowing a soft champagne tone from every tier.Clear, lit

Clear glass reads pale and airy by day, with a soft aqua line along each rim, and turns a gentle champagne glow at night.

Finding your fit

At 59 cm (23.2") across and 140 cm (55.1") tall, Saubrenne fits a living room corner, the end of a sofa or a quiet spot beside a desk. Give the leaves a little open space around them, run the cord along the wall, and keep the foot switch within easy reach.

Questions

Before you bring it home.

Are bulbs included?

No, bulbs are not included. It takes E26/E27 bulbs, and a 3000K warm white bulb, purchased separately, suits it best.

How do I turn it on and off?

A foot switch on the cord turns the lamp on and off, so there is no need to reach into the leaves.

Which plug will I get?

Choose a US, UK, AU or EU plug when you order.

How much space does it need?

It measures 59 cm / 23.2" across and 140 cm / 55.1" tall, so it suits a corner, the end of a sofa or a spot beside a desk.

What is the difference between green and clear?

Green glass looks olive by day and glows a deep honey gold when lit. Clear glass looks pale with an aqua tint at the rims and glows a soft champagne.

How do I clean the glass leaves?

Switch the lamp off and let it cool, then wipe each leaf gently with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth.

Hand-blown art glass

Every shade on this lamp began as glass at 2,000°F.

Before it ever held light, the glass on your lamp was melted, blown and shaped by hand in a working glass studio. Here is how it is made, and why it glows the way it does.

Hand-blown art glass pieces and glass rods laid out on a studio table
2,000°F

Furnace heat needed before the glass is soft enough to shape.

One at a time

Each piece is gathered, blown and finished by a maker’s hands.

Color in the glass

Color is fused in while molten, never painted onto the surface.

The process

From furnace to fixture, in four stages.

Glowing molten glass inside the mouth of a glass furnace Glassblower turning a gather of molten glass beside the furnace Gloved hands shaping colored art glass while it is still hot Finished glass pieces cooling on racks inside an annealing oven

Why hand-blown, and not pressed.

Depth, not a flat wash

Pressed glass is stamped in a mold: uniform, thin and flat once the light is behind it. Hand-blown glass varies slightly in thickness, and that variation gives the glow its depth.

Color through the whole wall

Color goes into the melt rather than onto the surface, so it runs the full thickness of the glass. It cannot chip, fade or wear off at the rim.

Worth the extra time

It costs more and takes longer to make. It also looks like nothing else in the room.

Signs of the hand, not flaws.

  • Tiny bubblesSmall seeds of air are trapped as the glass is gathered and turned.
  • Slight shifts in shadeColor can deepen where the glass is thicker and soften where it thins.
  • Gentle ripplesFaint waves in the surface show where the glass was shaped by hand.

Because each piece is made by hand, the glass on your lamp will differ slightly from the photos. No two are exactly alike.
