How it is built

Four parts, nothing hidden

Lesquin is simple to read: glass, a slim gold frame, one bulb and a solid base.

01Hammered panels

Four panels of dimpled amber glass with softly rounded corners.

02Gold frame

Corner posts, with a pin holding each panel at the top and bottom.

03One socket

E26 / E27 for a single bulb, not included. 3000K warm white suits it best.

04Cylinder base

A metal column in a gold finish that lifts the glass off the table.

Where it fits

Made for the small spots

Drawn to scale at 12.2" tall. A 6.7" square footprint leaves room around it on even a narrow surface.

12.2"

Nightstand

Room for a book and a glass of water beside it, with a soft glow for reading.

12.2"

Bookshelf

Look for about 13" or more of clear height so it is not pressed against the shelf above.

12.2"

Window ledge

A warm point of light by the glass at dusk, where a full-size lamp would not fit.

Amber,
after dark.

When the room goes dim, four panels of hammered glass turn one bulb into a warm, rippling glow you can see on the table and the wall.

Find your glow

The bulb sets the mood

Lesquin takes one E26 / E27 bulb, not included. Tap a color temperature to see how it changes the amber.

Deep and cozy. The amber leans toward cognac, best for a bedroom or a late reading spot.

Warm white that keeps the amber golden and clear. The tone we suggest for most rooms.

Cooler and brighter. The glass looks paler, and the glow loses some of its warmth.

Around the home

From golden hour to blue hour

Lesquin is at its best as the daylight fades, on a side table, a ledge or a nightstand.

Finding your fit

At 12.2 inches tall and 6.7 inches wide, Lesquin suits side tables, window ledges, nightstands and bookshelves where a full-size lamp would crowd the surface. Use one as a soft evening light, or a pair at each end of a sideboard.

Questions

Before you choose Lesquin

What bulb does it take?

One E26 / E27 bulb, not included. A 3000K warm white bulb keeps the amber golden.

How big is it?

17 cm / 6.7" wide and 31 cm / 12.2" tall, small enough for a nightstand, bookshelf or console.

What does the light look like?

The hammered glass breaks the light into a warm, rippling pattern on the tabletop and nearby wall.

Is every lamp identical?

The dimpled texture and depth of amber vary slightly from panel to panel, so no two look exactly alike.

Should I use a clear or frosted bulb?

A clear filament bulb shows through as a soft flame; a frosted bulb gives a calmer, even glow.

How do I clean the glass?

Unplug the lamp and let the bulb cool, then wipe the panels with a soft dry cloth.

Hand-blown art glass

Every shade on this lamp began as glass at 2,000°F.

Before it ever held light, the glass on your lamp was melted, blown and shaped by hand in a working glass studio. Here is how it is made, and why it glows the way it does.

Hand-blown art glass pieces and glass rods laid out on a studio table
2,000°F

Furnace heat needed before the glass is soft enough to shape.

One at a time

Each piece is gathered, blown and finished by a maker’s hands.

Color in the glass

Color is fused in while molten, never painted onto the surface.

The process

From furnace to fixture, in four stages.

Glowing molten glass inside the mouth of a glass furnace Glassblower turning a gather of molten glass beside the furnace Gloved hands shaping colored art glass while it is still hot Finished glass pieces cooling on racks inside an annealing oven

Why hand-blown, and not pressed.

Depth, not a flat wash

Pressed glass is stamped in a mold: uniform, thin and flat once the light is behind it. Hand-blown glass varies slightly in thickness, and that variation gives the glow its depth.

Color through the whole wall

Color goes into the melt rather than onto the surface, so it runs the full thickness of the glass. It cannot chip, fade or wear off at the rim.

Worth the extra time

It costs more and takes longer to make. It also looks like nothing else in the room.

Signs of the hand, not flaws.

  • Tiny bubblesSmall seeds of air are trapped as the glass is gathered and turned.
  • Slight shifts in shadeColor can deepen where the glass is thicker and soften where it thins.
  • Gentle ripplesFaint waves in the surface show where the glass was shaped by hand.

Because each piece is made by hand, the glass on your lamp will differ slightly from the photos. No two are exactly alike.
