The Design Story Behind the
Celestial Alabaster Chandelier

Every so often, a design begins not with a drawing, but with a feeling. The Celestial Alabaster Chandelier began with the quiet wonder of looking up — at a night sky, at a scatter of soft, glowing bodies suspended in the dark, each one holding its own warm light.

We wanted to bring that feeling indoors. Not a single fixture bolted rigidly to the ceiling, but a constellation — a cascade of hand-carved alabaster suspended on draped chains, each cluster falling at its own height, each glowing gently on its own. This is the story of how we shaped it.

🌙 The Inspiration — A Sky You Can Hang

There is a particular kind of calm in looking up at the moon and its scattered companions — bodies of light that feel weightless, warm, and impossibly still. That stillness was our starting point. We asked ourselves a simple question: could a chandelier feel less like a machine, and more like a small, private sky?

The answer became the Celestial. Rounded alabaster forms, stacked like drifting moons, are suspended from a web of gently draping chains. No two drops hang at the same height; no two clusters share the same rhythm. The effect is organic and unhurried — a constellation you can gather beneath.

✨ The Material — Why Alabaster

Alabaster is a material of quiet contradictions. In daylight it is solid, matte, and sculptural — pale and calm, like a piece of frosted moonlight held in the hand. But the moment light passes through it, it comes alive: a warm, honeyed glow spreads across cloudy veins and soft mineral drifts that no factory could ever invent.

This is the heart of the Celestial. Because every piece of alabaster is genuinely natural, each segment carries its own veining, its own faint caramel shadows, its own character. When you hang a Celestial, you are hanging forms that literally cannot be repeated anywhere else in the world.

Alabaster doesn't just carry light — it softens it, warms it, and gives it a body you can almost hold.

🏺 The Craft — Shaped by Hand

Every alabaster form in the Celestial is turned and shaped by hand, then polished until the surface is soft enough to invite touch. It is patient, unhurried work. Alabaster sets the pace — press too hard and it fractures; work too gently and the form never resolves. Our makers learn to listen to each piece, to follow its natural grain rather than force it.

Against the softness of the alabaster, we chose the deliberate contrast of blackened steel chain — matte, architectural, and quietly structural. Where the alabaster glows, the chain steps back. It is a frame that never competes, letting the warm light remain the centre of everything.

💡 The Light — A Glow, Not a Glare

Switched off, the Celestial is already beautiful — a scatter of pale, sculptural forms that hold their own in daylight. Switched on, it becomes something else entirely. Light travels through the alabaster and diffuses, filling each form with a soft, even, amber warmth. There is no harsh point of glare, only a gentle radiance that pools downward and washes the room in a candle-like tone.

Paired with warm, dimmable light, the Celestial stops being a fixture and becomes an atmosphere — the kind of glow that makes an evening slow down, that turns a dinner into a memory.

🌿 Made to Fit — Your Own Constellation

Because the Celestial is built from individual alabaster pendants on draped chains, it adapts to your space rather than the other way around. The number of clusters, the length of each drop, and the sweep of the chain swags can all be arranged to suit your ceiling and your room — a tight, sculptural knot above a round table, or a long, flowing run across a kitchen island.

Each canopy mounts independently, so the piece can follow the geometry of your home — linear, clustered, or scattered like stars across the ceiling. It arrives ready to compose, with clear guidance for shaping the swags and setting each drop just so.

In the end, the Celestial is our small love letter to slowness — to natural alabaster, shaped by hand, glowing warm against the dark.

Hang it, and let your ceiling become a quiet sky.
